Is Blood Brooch a good gungeon? ›

This sinister brooch was once worn by an unlucky inhabitant of the Gungeon, who used it to draw health from wounded enemies. There is a curse upon it, however, and the cost may not be worth the benefit. Blood Brooch is a passive item.

Marine is the most straightforward as mentioned above. He's got the best starting weapon and starts with free armor. His innate accuracy and reload boost also helps. Pilot has a crap basic weapon, but lockpicks can make or break some runs.

Holey Grail can effectively grant immortality with the GuNNER. Holey Grail, if used properly, can refill ammo for Glass Cannon and Balloon Gun. If Glass Cannon or Balloon Gun is picked up before Holey Grail, its ammo can be refilled to half-full upon taking damage.

Damages the player for half a heart. If the player has armor, the damage will remove the armor. Increases Coolness by 1 per use, decreasing the cooldown of active items and increasing the chance of items dropping upon clearing a room.

Causes guns to fire an additional shot. Bullets to move in a helical pattern, and apply marginally less damage. Fossilized bullets containing the DNA of some forgotten Gungeon creature.

Astral Slug

It shimmers softly, shifting between the material and ethereal sides of the Curtain. Grows hot in the presence of enemies. Planar Lead is a passive item.

For each bullet 'eaten', the projectile will gain a 10% damage and size increase. Individual hungry bullets will become 'sated' after eating 8 projectiles, and will no longer consume any more, effectively capping the damage and size multiplier per bullet at 80%.

Rainbow chests have a 0.0333% chance to replace a regular chest. Chests found upon clearing a room have a 0.001% chance to become a rainbow chest in addition to the normal 0.0333% chance, effectively a 0.0343% chance. Rainbow chests are never locked. However, they can be locked when they appear as a brown chest.

There are 4 basic starting gungeoneers to pick from whom I will list in order of which I would suggest starting out with when learning the game (not including the cultist who is only available in co-op mode). In order, they are: The Marine, The Hunter, The Pilot and then The Convict. Up first is the marine.

Overall, The Hunter is an all-around solid Gungeoneer, as the Dog is able to provide free resources, while the Crossbow gives a viable alternative to the otherwise average Rusty Sidearm until more powerful weapons are found.

Stealing from any NPC will always work the first time (excluding the grappling hook, which does have a chance to be caught). For the main shopkeeper, the second theft has a 50% chance to succeed, and any further thefts have a 10% chance to succeed.
