LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Drug Enforcement Administration investigators seized nearly 300 pounds of methamphetamine and several other drugs in a seizure earlier this month, officials said.

The DEA is tweeting photos of the seizure, which included 280 pounds of methamphetamine, 10 pounds of cocaine, 12 pounds of heroin and 6 pounds of counterfeit fentanyl pills, an agency spokesperson said. Officers also seized $2,500 in cash.

The drugs were stored in a house in the Las Vegas Valley before being transported and distributed.

Officials did not give details of the seizure, including the location, as they said it was part of a larger investigation. They said the bust happened in mid-January.

Drug cartels manufacture illicit fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine, and combine it with other illicit drugs.

In 2020, 193 people in Clark County died after ingesting illicit fentanyl – a few grains are enough to kill a person. Of these 193 deaths, nine were children.
