Kaytlan Kemp’s five hits lead Henderson Co. to win over Union Co.


HENDERSON, Ky. – Head forward Kaytlan Kemp was 5-for-5 and Madi Stone threw a four-stroke shutout as Henderson County beat Union County 10-0 on Wednesday at North Field.

Kemp, who has a .479 batting average, hit a pair of doubles and finished the game low in the sixth inning via the mercy rule with an RBI triple. Kemp scored three points and led in two.

One night, after combining with Kelsie Hill for a hitless against North, Stone (6-1) kept Union County off the board for six innings as she walked one and threw out three.

The Henderson County pitching staff have allowed just two runs in the team’s last four games.

Mallori Stone and Julianna Hibbs had three hits each for the Lady Colonels (20-9). Stone hit a pair of doubles. Jamaya Byrum had two hits, including a double.

Hannah Carter had two of four hits for Union County (16-9), including a brace.

Henderson County improved to 3-0 in Sixth District regular season play. Union County is now 2-2 and will host Webster County in the first round of the district tournament on June 1. Henderson County will face the winner in the championship game on June 2.

The Lady Colonels will visit Daviess County Thursday at 5:30 p.m., while Union County will host Apollo Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
