Keestone Academy opens in Henderson

HENDERSON, Tennessee – Keestone Academy in Henderson officially opened to the public on Monday.

This is a day care center that Carlos Schmitt started after attending a town hall where residents of Chester County expressed a need for full time day care.

“It was the main interest of the citizens that night. Because without child care, a lot of people cannot return to work, and this is essential, that you have a safe and caring environment for your child when you leave him in the presence of someone, ”said Schmitt. .

From this meeting, he and his daughter decided that they had to get up to speed and open their own daycare.

“So from August, until now, we have been working on the preparation of the center, following all state guidelines,” Schmitt said.

The difference between this facility and others in Chester County is that it is full time.

“They don’t cover the full day of work that most working parents need. We therefore offer our service from 6.30 am to 6.30 pm, ”said Schmitt.

Schmitt says that if there is a great need for evening babysitting, they can provide it as well.

Children aged 6 weeks to 12 years are welcome at the academy.

They offer an after-school program for young people, as well as a summer program. And they even babysit the children during the holidays.

“We have a lot to offer. Safety is our first thing. We have cameras in the bedrooms. We have plenty of space for all the kids, ”said Monica Stout, director of Keestone Academy.

There are a total of 24 rooms in the facility and the nursery can accommodate over 180 children.

“We have extra space that could be used, which could increase the number. So we hope that one day we will reach that maximum number, and we will always be happy to grow, hopefully, ”said Schmitt.

If you are wondering where the name of the academy came from, Schmitt has the answer!

“My grandson, whose name is Keegan. My daughter, her husband and Keegan decided Keestone was preferred, so I accepted their recommendation, ”Schmitt said.

If you would like to tour the facilities and get to know the staff, Keestone Academy is holding its Open House on Sunday January 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
