The Nevada Alliance for Student Diversity (NASD) offers academic support, advocacy and family support groups that guide children of diverse genders on their unique journeys to become authentic themselves.
The 501 (c) (3) nonprofit claims to have the only comprehensive, comprehensive program in southern Nevada for children of diverse genders, focused on:
• Advocating for the rights of gender-diverse students, working directly with the local school district and charters to ensure that gender-diverse students making the transition to school are treated with respect and that the The school complies with local and state laws.
• Patient Advocacy for Gender Diversity, providing information on medical options, referrals to trusted local providers and patient advocacy, with its Transgender Adolescent Health Committee striving to increase options and access to competent and safe care.
• Academic support services, providing professional development and policy development, as well as gender diversity training in schools for administrators, teachers and support staff to educate them on terminology, the law and best practices.
• Gender Support Groups for Youth and Parents, offering weekly in-person and online therapeutic support groups, including a group for youth of various genders and a separate group for parents and family members.
Founded and run by parents, NASD also offers parent mentoring, social events, medical and mental health referrals, and advocacy.
The group’s programs include services supporting caregivers and families of neurodiverse children, including those with ADD and ADHD, and celebrating diversity, providing advocacy and support to families facing challenges at home or at home. school based on racial prejudices, stereotypes or prejudices.
