Obituary of Wayne Phillip Reno | Tribune of the Stars

Reno, Wayne Phillip, 85, of Blaine, passed away peacefully at Crest View Senior Community on December 31, 2021. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carolann (Provost); his daughter, Debra Backstrom; parents Lloyd and Clara; and his siblings, John, Janet and Roger. Wayne is survived by his sons, John (Renae) and Ronald (Melonie); son-in-law, Roger Backstrom; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Wayne grew up in Minneapolis and joined the Marine Corps at age 17 and served proudly for four years. Wayne met his wife Carol through letters they exchanged when he was in the service and first met her in person when he returned from leave. They married in 1957 and made Blaine their home where they raised three children. Wayne worked for many years as a Teamster highway truck driver. Wayne, with Carol’s love and support, worked to overcome the struggles of alcoholism through a 12-step program and achieved 48 years of sobriety. Over the years Wayne has enjoyed his time at the family cabin and he has always enjoyed being on a lake. He spent a lot of time with his family, was a big movie buff and loved his family dogs. Wayne enjoyed traveling with his wife all over the country, taking her on many long road trips. Wayne was a generous, easy-going man who is loved and will be missed by many. Visiting hours are 4-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 19 at Washburn-McReavy – Coon Rapids, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW. During the visit, time will be set aside beginning at 6:00 p.m. for loved ones to share their stories of remembering Wayne.
