On May 3, the City of Reno announced the hiring of JW Hodge as Director of the Bureau of Policy and Strategy. In this role, Hodge will oversee strategic planning and ensure the advancement of strategic goals, policy development, federal, state and local government affairs, special projects and additional administrative support to the City Manager.
Hodge comes to the Town of Reno from Renown Health, where he worked as Executive Director and Practice Director of Primary and Urgent Care Sector.
Previously, Hodge spent 13 years at REMSA as Chief Operating Officer (2017-2018), Director of Public and Government Affairs (2016-2017) and Manager of Education and Community Engagement (2005-2016 ).
“The opportunity to work on and support important projects and ongoing political work is exciting, and I look forward to helping lead strategic and political decisions at the City of Reno in my new role,” said Hodge said in a statement.
Hodge holds a BS in Health Care Administration from Columbia Southern University, a Summa Cum Laude graduate and a preparation degree from Harvard Business School.
“JW brings to the Town of Reno a diverse skill set from his many years in the healthcare industry, and he is an important addition to our team,” City Manager Doug Thornley said in a statement. “JW will help us manage the agendas of city council meetings, coordinating all of our boards and commissions, and making sure the whole team knows which levers and buttons to press so that our organization is best positioned to advance our strategic goals. before.”
Meanwhile, on May 11, the City of Reno announced the hiring of Kannaiah Vadlakunta as Director of the Information Technology Department.
In the role, Vadlakunta directs, manages, supervises and supervises the activities and operations of the IT department; coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments and external agencies; and provides administrative support to the City Manager.
Vadlakunta comes to the City of Reno from the Nevada Tax Department, where he was Deputy Executive Director of Information Technology since August 2014.
“I am very happy to join the city of Reno,” Vadlakunta said in a statement. “Technology is essential to our internal and external communications and how we reach our employees and residents. I am honored to lead this effort for the City of Reno. “
Prior to joining the Nevada Tax Department, Vadlakunta was the Enterprise Solutions Architect / Supervisor for the Secretary of State at Carson City (2010-14), and he spent seven years (2003-10) in as a Senior Web Developer / Team Leader for the Nevada Department of Transportation.
“Kannaiah has a wealth of information technology knowledge and is a welcome addition to our team,” Thornley said in a press release. “His 24-year career in IT spans the efforts of the public and private sectors around the world. Vadlakunta holds an MA in Information Management from Western Nevada Governors University and a BS in Engineering from the University of Bengaluru.
