The top two teams have proven their rankings correct, in both baseball and softball at regional Class 5A tournaments this week.
In baseball, Reno and McQueen each won their first two games and will now meet at 4 p.m. Thursday in Reno.
The second seed McQueen (14-4) handed the seed Reno (18-1), it is only a loss, 6-2, on May 14.
In softball, Spanish Springs and No. 1 seed Reed each won their first two regional playoff games this week. But in softball it got them a day off.
In the baseball playoffs, McQueen beat Bishop Manogue, 12-4, on Wednesday as Rob Snelling and Kaiden Regan each hit home runs. Snelling went 2-for-4 and led in three points.
In Spanish Springs 6-3 victory over Douglas, Jake Doyle had a two-run home run and Jace Avina led by two.

The winner of the Carson-Damonte ranch will face the winner of Manogue S-Spanish Springs at 2:30 p.m. Friday at a venue to be determined

Soft ball
Reed took a 4-0 lead over Douglas in the first inning, but the Tigers scored once in the fourth, then added two in the top of the seventh, on a loaded hitter and a sacrifice volley, before that the Raiders are out of the round and out of the game.
Junior pitcher Reed Danyelle Leone struck out 11 goals and allowed five hits. Senior Alycia Coats hit a home run, her 11th of the season
Spanish Springs junior Hailey Mclean pitched a perfect game on Tuesday in the Cougars’ 10-0 win over Damonte Ranch.

4 p.m. Reno to Douglas. The Reno-Douglas winner plays Reed at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Spanish Springs will host a game at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
