The United States ExpressJet will be relaunched as aha! by Reno / Tahoe

ExpressJet Airlines (EV, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) has announced plans to relaunch on October 24, 2021, under a new brand – aha! – with a network from Reno / Tahoe serving eight underserved airports in the western United States.

“aha! is ExpressJet Airlines’ ‘air-hotel-adventure’ leisure brand, designed for travelers to enjoy the regional bounty of Reno-Tahoe – including exciting casino resorts and live entertainment, a diverse arts and food scene and world-class skiing – golf and outdoor activities around Lake Tahoe, North America’s largest alpine lake, “a press release read.

The regional carrier plans to serve the following destinations from Reno / Tahoe in the first phase of its relaunch:

  • Pasco, WA (from October 24),
  • Bakersfield, California (October 25),
  • Medford, OR (October 31),
  • Eugene, OR (November 1),
  • Ontario, CA (November 4),
  • Redmond, OR (November 5),
  • Eureka, California (November 9) and
  • Fresno Yosemite, Calif. (November 10).

All routes will be operated 3 times per week using E145 regional jets.

“As ExpressJet began to develop post-COVID flight opportunities that fit our history of serving small communities with regional aircraft, we realized that the old adage of ‘getting there is half the fun’ has become. “Just getting there burns half the vacation. With so many underserved communities and the allure of Reno-Tahoe, the brand model aha! almost jumped out at us, ”said Managing Director Subodh Karnik.

“The possibility for the inhabitants of our destination towns to make short trips for two or three days simply does not exist now because they have to fly through hubs,” he added in a telephone interview with ch-aviation.

The carrier plans to expand to about 20 destinations in the western United States in the coming months.

ExpressJet Airlines, then operating as a production carrier, suspended all operations in September 2020 after United Airlines (UA, Chicago O’Hare), its only customer, decided to move all E145s to CommutAir (C5, Cleveland Hopkins). The company then fell dormant and in April 2021 announced plans to restart as an independent scheduled carrier serving second and third tier airports in the United States. It was recertified by the (DOT) at the end of July 2021.
