United Federal Credit Union’s Pay It Forward Campaign Helps Nevada Charities and Families | Carson City Nevada News

United Federal Credit Union was pleased to donate over $ 2,300 to families and local organizations in Northwestern Nevada as part of the 2021 Pay It Forward initiative.

As part of Pay It Forward, United provided $ 20 for each employee to donate to a person, family or organization in need of their choice. Many departments and branches have combined funds and even added their own financial contributions to create a larger donation, further demonstrating the passion Team United has for its members and communities.

Organizations supported by United employees in Northwestern Nevada in 2021 include: Nevada Kids Foundation, Reno Cancer Foundation, JUSTin Hope Foundation, Holiday With a Hero, Karma Boxes, and The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Collectively, United employees have donated more than $ 19,300 to 54 different families, individuals and community organizations in the six states where the branches are located.

The Pay It Forward program began in 2008 with a request from employees to use money otherwise spent on internal holiday celebrations to help people in the community.

United President and CEO Terry O’Rourke attributed the continued growth and success of the Pay It Forward program to company culture and dedication to serving employees.

“The thoughtfulness and consideration that each individual and department puts into thinking about how these dollars can provide additional help during the holiday season to a family, organization or other members of the community is remarkable,” said O’Rourke said. “It has been another challenging year for our friends and family across the country, but when Team United saw a need, they found a way to lend a helping hand.”

For the second year, United employees participated in a virtual meeting to learn more about how each department has used charitable funds. Employees used technology to share their stories and promote the spirit of giving this holiday season.

“We are proud to be part of the communities in which we live and work in Carson City, Reno and Sparks,” said Meredith Williams, United Regional Vice President. “Team United lives the credit union philosophy of helping people every day of the year and is fortunate to be able to give even more back to our neighbors during the holidays. We hope United’s Pay It Forward campaign helps spread some joy this time of year.
